Chanel and Dior Makeup Holiday 2024

Chanel and Dior Makeup Holiday 2024

This year, I have spent significantly less on luxury brand makeup (Chanel and Dior). Mostly because some of the launches do not appeal to me – maybe it is the product or the shades. I did pick up a couple of items this year, but I have entirely skipped 1-2 collections I think. I am filled to the brim with my luxury makeup drawer and I am slowly getting through the products. I feel like I am at the right spot with my eyeshadow collection, my highlighter collection, my blushes, my powders, my foundations, etc. I am really buying the items that I really think are good for collecting and products that I am using up.

Another factor is the budget. I have been spending my money elsewhere like k-beauty and fashion. I have fallen into the the rabbit hole again with K-beauty products and gadgets which really fills my heart with joy. Quiet luxury fashion pieces are also something I spent my money on lately. Trying to build a classic and timeless wardrobe that will work for me for years to come. All I’m trying to say is that I have not really spent a lot of my money on the holiday collections from Chanel and Dior. I have only picked up three items. One from Chanel, and two from Dior and I want to share them here at the same time.

I bought the Chanel No.5 The Beige Gold Body Oil, and I totally skipped the entire Holiday 2024 collection makeup. The Beige Gold Body Oil is $193 for a 250ml bottle. I also bought the Rouge Dior Forever Liquid Sequin in 353 Liasion in the holiday packaging as well as the Dior Backstage Glow Face Palette in 006 Celestial Glow which are $81 and $103 respectively. So for the holiday collections this year I have already spent $377.

Let’s start with the Chanel order. My SA couriered the order to me in a large box with the Chanel holiday paper packaging in immaculate condition. The paper “bag” has a white woven fabric ribbon with the CC snowflake charm. This is the first time I have seen this charm and this is bar far the prettiest little charm I have seen from Chanel! As usual, my SA sent me a couple of samples along with my order – a total of 5 samples from the Sublimage range. The body oil comes in a white box with a black border, sealed in plastic wrap. The bottle is stunning and weighted with a white lid. The body oil is fluid and lightweight so it will flow out easily and fast. One thing to mention is that this is not a dry oil, so it’s not one that will dry down quick. It is an actual body oil so it will be moisturising and nourishing to the skin. The beige gold shimmer is pretty in the bottle, but once blended out it is subtle. Smells of No.5, but not as strong as an EDP. So if you find the EDP too strong, wear this instead.

Next, let’s have a look at the Dior order. I ordered this on the Dior.co.nz website and they always provide free samples in little cotton pouches and ship everything in sturdy cardboard boxes. First, we have the Dior Backstage Glow Face Palette in the limited edition shade 006 Celestial Glow. The palette is NZD $103 for 10g of product in total. I only have the 001 Universal version of this and it is a stunning product even though it is not something I reach for every day because it can be quite shimmery. I also got this personalised as well so it has my name engraved on the lid at no extra cost.

This palette is on the cool side of the spectrum with a frosty white on the top right-hand corner, we also have a pink and a peach on opposite corners of each other, both of them are really pretty. A soft flush of colour with a nice shimmer. The star of the show for this palette would be the bottom left corner shade which is a frosty silver with a lavender shift.

Next, we have the Rouge Dior Forever Liquid Sequin in 353 Liasion. This liquid lipstick has been doing the rounds online for the holiday season as it transforms into a glittery lip colour. The sequin version of the Forever Liquid is not new to Dior, but we have new shades and limited edition gold lid packaging. There are 10 shades and they are quite festive, including the famous 999. These liquid lipsticks are pigmented and bright, they also have a metallic finish and are long-wear liquid lipsticks so they can be a little drying on the lips. To activate the glitter, you apply the liquid lipstick, wait for 5 minutes and then press your lips and the lip colour will turn quite glittery. Not your everyday lip colour, just for parties and holidays I suppose.

Overall

This year, I have not been crazy with holiday-themed products or even Black Friday sales (which is currently on as I am writing this). I am overwhelmed by offers, but I am also quite picky this year. If the deal isn’t amazing and does not appeal to me right away, I let it go. I delete that email. I tend to impulse buy, and I still do, but I need to refrain and use up what I already have. Storage has become an issue and it’s starting to show (my husband can see boxes growing in different corners of our room)!

With that said, I have also bought some small items from Chanel for my SA to send me my Chanel Christmas gift and a little gift-with-purchase. Not sure what it is yet, but I will share that on my Instagram (@kittiemui)
