StyleKorean x d’Alba Shine and Glow box

Where I got it

In late January (I’ve been procrastinating), StyleKorean announced on their IG broadcast channel that they will be launching a new d’Alba box, and I was very excited because I have been wanting to try more from their brand and they have been a little over my budget. I have tried 3 of their products already (blog post here) and I love them all so far. So I am ready to try more from this brand.

So the box came live on their website on 27/01/25 and surprisingly, the box is still available on this day (March). The box is called Shine and Glow box, and it retailed for USD$39.90 which is around NZD$71. (shipping was another USD$19.90) The box contains 4 products and the combined RRP of these products comes to a total of USD$121! This is 67% off.

White Truffle Oil Capsule Cream

How I find it

To kick off, I would say the products from this brand are more catered for dry skin because of how moisturising and nourishing it is. I do have combination/dehydrated skin right now, but I used to have combination/oily skin when I was younger. I think now my skin appreciates thicker moisturiser and the occasional facial oil or oil serum.

Let’s start with the Serum and Cream Modeling Mask. I love modeling masks when I have time to treat myself because they do require some time to prepare and sufficient time for it to solidify. It is a very soothing and enjoyable experience when the mask is on my face. The set contains two pouches with liquid and a plastic spatula for mixing and application. You need to use your own mixing bowl. After cleansing, I applied a generous amount of the First Spray Serum all over my face and started mixing the two liquids ina container. The yellow “cream” is quite thick and reminds me so much of cheddar cheese spread! The white serum is also a little gloopy. They are easy to mix together and you have to apply right away.

The texture of the mask is a little runny, like cheese-sauce (yum). There was maybe 5 minutes for application before the mask starts to congeal. One mixture is plenty for the entire face, if you want to there is enough product to cover your mouth and eyes. The mask is cooling and not drying on the skin. I left it on for 30 minutes and it was time to remove.

The mask has entirely solidified to a soft rubbery texture, it is soft to the touch and I can feel that my skin is moist under the mask. I peel upwards from the chin and it removes easily without pulling on my skin. The masks can be removed in one piece if you applied evenly, but it is still quite fragile. My skin feels so hydrated and soothed after the mask is removed, there were no tightness.

Next, the First Spray Serum. I already have a bottle of this from a previous order and I am already using this. This is a multi-purpose hydrating mist that you could using as a light hydrating step between serum and moisturiser, after moisturiser, after makeup and anytime during the day. The dual-phase layer provides hydration and the oil-based layer provides a film to seal in that hydration. I have found that standard water-based mists provides instant hydration on the skin, but it does not last. My skin drinks it up and asks for more. But with a dual-phase formula, the hydration sinks in and the oil-based layer forms a layer to prevents evaporation and seals the hydration in.

Next, we have the White Truffle First Oil Capsule Serum. Again, we have the dual-phase formula in the form of an encapsulated system. We have vitamin-packed capsules suspended in a damask rose water base. The serum is lightweight and almost watery and the capsules just burst upon contact with the lightest pressure, so there is no need for rubbing or pressing. The serum is very hydrating and a little goes a long way, it leaves your skin looking so dewy and moist, great to layer on a moisturiser afterwards. I would say the end result is similar to the First Spray Serum – the freshness on the skin and the dewy glow that it leaves.

Lastly we have the White Truffle Oil Capsule Cream. This looks beautiful inthe jar – like golden caviar suspended in this luxurious cream. The capsules are larger and requires light pressure to burst, which with normal rubbing in of the cream would suffice. If you love their Double Serum & Cream but find it cumbersome or time-consuming, you would love this. This is almost like the double serum and cream already mixed in.

Overall

For my second d’Alba “haul”, I was excited, but nothing really wowed me. Let me explain. I am really intrigued by the modelling mask because it sounded like an amazing nourishing mask and I love a modelling mask when I get the time to do some pampering. However, the capsule serum and capsule cream seems to be just the same thing but in a different format – they both have the oil and water phase, they both feel similar in terms of the finish it gives on the skin. The capsule cream is also very similar to the double serum and cream, but in a pre-mixed formula.

Now that I have tried 6 of their products, I can get a good sense of what I think of the brand and what I would repurchase in the future. The key theme I can see in this brand is the dual-phase formula – whether it is a dual-phase liquid, droplets suspended in a serum, in a balm format, in a mask, capsules in a cream or straight-up two formulas in a tub, d’alba has done it all. The key ingredient is the white truffle oil and there are many options to use it in your skincare routine. Whilst I have yet to try their cleansers and SPF and even body products, I can tell that they are more on the nourishing side of the spectrum and that’s absolutely fine.

With all that being said, I really enjoyed the First Spray Serum and the Double Serum and Cream closely followed by the Capsule Serum. The spray serum is super lightweight, easy to use and convenient. It is versatile, so you can use it after cleansing and toning, you can use it before and after makeup, etc. It gives your skin a hydration and moisture boost whilst leaving your skin looking fresh and glowy. No wonder why people love it and went viral. The Double Serum & Cream I would say it great for those with dry skin, simply because the cream is nourishing and moisturising. I love using this in winter nights and when my skin just needs that extra boost overnight. Lastly, the Capsule serum is very similar to the spray serum, but in a gel-like base and in a pump bottle.
